Sign in and account access
This article explains how to sign in to SharedAnchor and how to get back in if you are locked out. It covers signing in with your email and password, signing in with Google or Apple, resetting a forgotten password, and finishing email verification. You can do all of this on web, iOS, and Android.
Sign in with email and password
Email and password is the default way to sign in. Open the sign-in screen, enter your email address and password, and choose the sign-in button. On web that button is labeled Log in; other screens may call the same action Sign in. If your email or password is wrong, SharedAnchor shows "Incorrect email or password." so you can try again.
Sign in with Google or Apple
You can also sign in without typing a password by using Google or Apple. Look for the Continue with Google and Continue with Apple buttons below the email and password fields. On iOS, Continue with Apple appears whenever any third-party sign-in option is shown, so you always have an Apple option there. These buttons appear where they are set up; if you do not see one, use your email and password instead.
Reset a forgotten password
If you cannot remember your password, you can reset it by email. On the sign-in screen, choose the Forgot password? link to open the "Reset your password" screen. Enter your account email and choose Send reset link, and SharedAnchor sends a password reset link to that email if the address is registered. Open the email, click the link, type a new password on the "Set a new password" screen, and choose Set new password. After that, sign in again with your new password.
Account recovery is by email only. SharedAnchor does not collect your phone number at signup, so there is no text-message or phone reset; keep access to your email so you can always recover your account.
Verify your email
When you create an account, SharedAnchor sends a verification link to your email and shows a "Check your email" screen. Click the link in that message to activate your account, then come back and sign in. If the email did not arrive, choose Resend verification email and check your inbox and spam folder. If you try to sign in before verifying, SharedAnchor tells you the email is not verified and offers to resend the link.
Troubleshooting
If your reset link no longer works, SharedAnchor tells you the link is no longer valid because it may have expired or already been used. When that happens, choose Request a new reset link to get a fresh email, then use the newest link.
If you try to sign up but the email is already registered, that email already has a SharedAnchor account. Sign in with that email instead, and reset the password if you do not remember it.
If you are not receiving any SharedAnchor emails, check your spam or junk folder and confirm you entered the correct email address before requesting another message.
