Notifications

This article explains how to turn on notifications, where to read them, and how to choose which alerts you receive. It covers the first-time prompt on the phone apps, the notifications inbox, and your notification preferences.

Turn on notifications

On iOS and Android, the app shows a "Stay in the loop" screen before asking the phone for permission. Choose Allow to turn on notifications, or choose Not now to continue without notifications for now. During the early pilot, alerts are delivered by email, and choosing Allow registers your device so push notifications start working automatically when they become available.

If you chose not to turn them on, you can turn notifications on later from your phone's own Settings app for SharedAnchor.

Your notifications inbox

Open Notifications to see your inbox of recent activity for you and your co-parent. This is where alerts collect so you can catch up even if you missed them the first time.

Choose which alerts you get

Open Notification preferences to control each kind of alert with a simple on and off switch. You can turn alerts on or off for new and approved expenses, payment reminders and updates, calendar changes, and disputes. Each switch saves on its own; SharedAnchor shows "Saved" when it works.

Your privacy is protected

Push notifications never include names or amounts. The lock screen can be seen by anyone nearby, so SharedAnchor keeps financial detail and names out of the alert itself and only shows it once you open the app.

States and recovery

While your preferences load you see a brief loading spinner. If they cannot load, SharedAnchor shows "Could not load preferences. Please refresh." and nothing is changed. If a switch fails to save, SharedAnchor shows "Failed to save" and flips the switch back so what you see matches what is stored.
